Preparation

Check the System Software Version of Your Lens

Follow the instructions below to check the lens system software version:

1. Select Menu → Setup → Setup Option → Version.
2. The lens system software version is displayed.
   
   Bemærk:
   • If the system software version is Ver.03 or earlier, the update is required.
   • If the date and time setting screen appears when you turn on the camera, be sure to set the date and/or time to the correct values.
   • If you are using the QX series, start the Lens System Software Updater on your computer and check the lens system software version by running the update.

  Important Notice

  • This lens system software update can only be performed when the lens is attached to the E-mount body camera. You cannot perform the lens system software update using another camera.
  • Attach the lens to the camera before performing the lens system software update. Make sure the camera is turned off.
  • Do not let your computer go into Sleep mode. In case the computer does go into Sleep mode and the update is interrupted, you will need to redo the entire update process from the start.
  • Ensure that all devices other than the computer are disconnected.
  • Do not remove the battery during the update; otherwise, the camera may not operate due to the sudden power shutdown.
  • Remove the memory card from the camera beforehand.

  For α Interchangeable-Lens Camera

  • When performing the lens system software update, please use a fully charged rechargeable battery pack or the dedicated AC adaptor (sold separately).

  For Camera – Broadcast & Production

  • When performing the lens system software update, please use the dedicated AC adaptor.

  For Professional Category Cameras

  • Please ensure the battery and AC adaptor are removed before the lens with the update is attached.

  How to Download the Lens System Software Updater

  1. Make sure you are logged on as a user with administrative rights.
  2. Click the Download button above.
  3. After reading the disclaimer, click Download.
     The Update_SEL200600GV4D.exe file will start downloading.
  4. Save the file to the desktop of your computer (recommended).
     Bemærk: With the standard settings of Microsoft Edge, the update file will be saved in your Downloads folder. Click the Desktop tile from the Start screen and find the downloaded file in the Downloads folder by using Explorer.
  5. Once the file has been downloaded successfully, you're ready to install the lens system software update Ver.04for SEL200600G.

  Step 1: Start the Lens System Software Updater

  1. Close all programs currently running on your computer.
  2. Double-click the Update_SEL200600GV4D.exe file you downloaded to start up the Lens System Software Updater.
     
     Bemærk: The Lens System Software Updater window appears.
  3. Turn on the camera. If the camera has already been turned on, turn it off and then turn it on again.
     Bemærk: According to the instructions for the Lens System Software Updater:
     1. On the camera, select Menu → Setup → USB → USB Connection Mode.
     2. Check if Mass Storage is selected. (If you are using the QX series, this step is not necessary.)
        If a different mode is selected, change it to Mass Storage.
        
  4. Remove the memory card from the camera beforehand. Connect the camera to the computer with the supplied USB cable.
     Bemærk: If an error message appears on the computer screen, please try the following methods:
     • Disconnect the USB cable and reconnect it.
     • If the computer has multiple USB terminals, try another terminal.
  5. Confirm (the USB icon) is displayed on the task tray in the lower right corner of the computer screen.
     Bemærk: If (the USB icon) is not displayed on the task tray, please proceed to the next step.
  6. Click Next on the Lens System Software Updater. The Lens System Software Updater window appears on the PC and the “Follow computer instructions” message appears on the camera screen.

       Bemærk: From now on, avoid turning off the camera until the lens system software update is complete.
       Depending on the camera model, it may take a few minutes for the screen to change.
     Troubleshooting:
     • If the message “The update is not available for your model.” appears, check if the system software file you're trying to install is the correct file for the lens which is attached to your camera.
       In case the correct Lens System Software Updater is running, follow these steps:
       1. Close the Updater.
       2. Disconnect the USB cable.
       3. Turn off the camera.
       4. Go back to the Step 1: Start the Lens System Software Updater section of this page.
     • If the message “Could not find camera with the lens for this update mounted.” appears, check if your camera is listed in the Relevant Products section and if the camera is connected to the computer with a USB cable.
  7. Click Next on the Lens System Software Updater. The current version and the version after the update appear on the lower left part of the screen. If the current lens system software version is Ver.04, the update is not required. In this case:
     1. Stop the USB connection and click Finish.
     2. Turn off the camera.
     3. Remove the battery pack and/or the AC adaptor.
     4. Reinsert the battery or reconnect the AC adaptor.
     5. Turn on the camera.

  8. Confirm the Current version is Ver.03 or earlier, then click Next. The data is transferred to the camera (approximately 5 seconds).
     Bemærk: Never turn off the camera or disconnect the USB cable while updating.
     
  9. When the data transfer is complete and the following screen appears, click Finish.
     
  10. The update process will start and the progress bar will appear on the camera for approximately 60 seconds.
      
  11. The update process is finished when the “Lens update complete.” message appears on the camera.
      
      Bemærk: If you are using the QX series, the update process is complete when the screen of the QX series disappears.
  12. Click (the USB icon) on the task tray in the lower right corner of the computer screen to stop the USB connection.
      Bemærk: If (the USB icon) is not displayed on the task tray, please proceed to the next step.
  13. Disconnect the USB cable.
      Bemærk: Follow these steps after the update is complete:
      1. Turn off the camera.
      2. Remove the battery pack and/or the AC adaptor.
      3. Reinsert the battery or reconnect the AC adaptor.
      4. Turn on the camera.

  Step 2: Confirm the Lens System Software Version Is Ver.04

  1. On the camera, select Menu → Setup → Setup Option → Version.
  2. The lens system software version is displayed.
     

  Questions & Answers

  The Update Did Not Finish

  If the monitor remains black for more than 10 minutes, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
  2. Remove the battery and AC adaptor from the camera, leave it for a few minutes, then reinsert the battery or reconnect the AC adaptor.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Turn on the camera and perform the installation process again.
