Sony Group Corporation (Sony) announced today that it is now accepting submissions for its Sony Research Award Program, currently in its seventh year. The program provides funding for projects researching emerging and innovative technologies in collaboration with Sony’s own research groups, and is open to universities and, starting this year, to other research institutions such as government research institutes and nonprofit organizations.

February 9, 2022 – Sony AI, together with Polyphony Digital Inc. (PDI) and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), today announced a breakthrough in artificial intelligence (AI) called Gran Turismo Sophy (“GT Sophy”) - the first superhuman AI agent to outrace the world’s best drivers of the highly realistic PlayStation® racing simulation game, Gran TurismoTM (GT) Sport. GT Sophy aims to deliver new AI-powered gaming experiences to players around the world.

Today, Sony Group Corporation (“Sony” or “the company”) held “Sony Technology Day,” an online event to exhibit various Sony Group technologies. Sony introduced eight technologies, under the theme of “Technology that inspires emotion,” that connect the various businesses of the Sony Group and support the evolution of the company.
